Emily Xuechun Zhang (born January 16, 1998), better known as ExtraEmily, is an American Twitch streamer and YouTuber. She is a member of One True King. Her content primarily focuses on IRL streaming.
ExtraEmily has gained notoriety through her unconventional IRL streaming and peoples reactions to it, her one of a kind content lead to her becoming the most nominated streamer at The Streamer Awards and to winning the "League Of Their Own" award. Additionally, ExtraEmily was the first streamer to have an animated emote of herself "TwitchConHYPE" available on all of Twitch.
Early Life[]
Emily was born on January 16, 1998 to Chinese parents, and spent her childhood living in Omaha, Nebraska.
In 2016, Emily was accepted into Financial Engineering at Columbia University in New York City joining the Tau Colony of the Asian-interest Kappa Phi Lambda sorority.
Emily graduated at the top of her class, Magna cum laude and with The Outstanding Student Service Award in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research in 2020.
Twitch Career[]
Emily created her Twitch account, "ExtraEmily" on April 20 2020. She began livestreaming on Twitch on May 29, 2020, playing Wii Sports and other various Nintendo Wii video games. She gained minor popularity thanks to her friend and fellow Twitch streamer Nicro, who would often "raid" Emily's channel at the end of his broadcasts. In February 2020, Emily moved from Nebraska to New York to help focus on streaming. Emily's channel slowly grew throughout late 2020 and early 2021, and clips from her live-streams began to go viral on sites such as TikTok. She also did multiple 24-hour streams to help grow her channel, in which she would remain live and active on her channel for an entire consecutive day. On March 23, 2021, Emily was officially partnered to Twitch through their Twitch Partner Program.
On April 8, 2022, Emily live-streamed herself using a small camera to view the inside of her ear canals and, following suggestions from viewers, the inside of her belly button. The latter moment became a viral clip, garnering over 72,000 views and being discussed by various large Twitch streamers including Emiru and Mizkif. Following this, Mizkif invited Emily onto his game show "OTK Schooled." The show is loosely based on Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? and challenges its competitors to answer questions based on education given through different school grades, beginning at grade 1 and going up to grade 13. Emily initially placed 2nd on her first appearance, meaning she would not make it into the finals of the show, but after multiple competitors called in sick she was invited to compete in the finals as a back-up choice.
Emily initially placed 2nd again, but after the shows victor was exposed for cheating, she was eventually crowned the true champion of OTK Schooled. Following her victory she was awarded $50,000, and was invited to visit Mizkif along with all members of One True King in Austin, Texas. This helped her Twitch channel explode in popularity, going from 25,000 followers to over 80,000 in the span of 3 months.
On June 20, 2022, Emily announced that she had been fired from her banking job in New York City and was officially becoming a full-time Twitch streamer.
On January 31, 2023, Emily was announced as the newest member of One True King.
On April 9, 2023, Emily took the sub-a-thon concept to a next level where she taped herself to a wall for a little over 10 hours straight while having viewers donate and subscribe to have her friends throw water balloons and various random objects at her.
On May 14, 2023, Emily had the police called on her while she was recreating a famous Jackass stunt called "Urban Kayak" where she live streamed kayaking in the middle of a skate park going down the slopes in Austin, Texas. Fortunately, there were no rules against the stunt and she was allowed to continue after respectfully speaking to the police officer.
On June 10, 2023, One True King launches independent video game and publishing company "Mad Mushroom" with Emily as part of being one of the co-owners for the company.
On October 20, 2023, During Twitch Con Las Vegas, Emily became a global Twitch emote called "TwitchConHYPE". This emote was spawned from one of her bizarre streams where she buried herself inside a trash bin in mulch with only her head sticking out.
On January 4, 2024, In a viral encounter that amassed millions of views across social media, Emily set out to do an "IRL challenge" where she cooked steak in an Outback Steakhouse parking lot to compare it with the restaurant's. During the live stream a woman drove up to the parking lot accusing Emily of "cooking crack", Emily quickly denied the allegation explaining to the woman that she was cooking steak “It is for a YouTube/Twitch thing! Sorry for making you uncomfortable. But don’t worry, it’s steak!”. The woman was convinced and cheered Emily on before leaving the premises.
On February 5, 2024, During the OTK Shareholders Meeting, Emily along with fellow org member Emiru announced they will be hosting an IRL show together called "Always On Connected By AT&T" where the pair can show off AT&T’s network while doing various activities throughout the year.
On Feburary 17, 2024, Emily co-hosted the red carpet event at the yearly The Streamer Awards, with fellow streamers CDawgVA and Will Neff. At the event Emily was nominated for total of 6 awards (3 individual awards, 1 organizational award and 2 collaborative awards), the most of anyone at the event.
On December 18, 2024, After the massive success for season 1 of "Always On Connected By AT&T", Emily & Emiru announced during the season finale, their show's renewal of a season 2 in 2025.
On May 16, 2025, Emily was invited and accepted as a Professor for Kai Cenat's 4 day event (May 22-25) called "Streamer University" after applying for the position days prior.
On May 25, 2025, Emily was 7th place on the list for most viewed streamers at Kai Cenat's "Streamer University" out of the 137 content creators that participated, clocking in 42 hours and 1.02M views. The popular Twitch streamer and YouTuber stayed on top of her game throughout the weekend by delivering fun content like “How I Took Over Streamer University’s Talent Show,” “I Went Undercover At Streamer University…,” and “Duke Dennis Teaches ExtraEmily Rizz.”
She was recognized for her efforts and took home the certificate for “Engagement Guru” at the closing ceremony. As for her review of the experience, she confirmed it was the “best weekend of my life.”
On August 5, 2025, Emily began her Elden Ring Co-Op Marathon with fellow streamer Agent00 where they couldn't end stream until they have beaten the game. For day 1, Emily hit her record all time peak viewership with 55, 284 concurrent viewers on Twitch. By the end of the marathon on August 11 she garnered 2.75 million hours watched, 53, 775 followers across 146 hours stream up time.
On August 27, 2025 Emily began her surprise 4 day Pokémon Go IRL Marathon in Hawaii with streamers Agent00, YourRAGE and Cinna which accumulated a total group 78 thousand viewer peak and 3.4 million hours watched across all channels. The marathon was a massive success and was decided by fans the streamer groups name would be called "C.A.R.E." (Cinna, Agent, Rage, ExtraEmily).
