Biography[]
Real name, Dave, is a Twitch streamer and V-Tuber from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, United States. Born in 1987, he grew up through many of the retro and classic generations of home console, handheld, and PC video game generations. Dave was raised in quite a troubled home, with a hyper-religious, narcissistic mother; and both parents were both mentally and physically abusive. Through most of his childhood, Dave spent time bonding with his grandparents, learning life skills such as cooking, woodworking, and basic mechanics. His maternal grandfather fostered a curiosity of learning how the world works, and by the age of 10, Dave had learned enough to build his first PC from a pile of spare parts (though it caught fire shortly afterward due to a lack of understanding of how electricity worked.) It was also during his younger childhood where he would meet his longest-time, and best friend and brother "Leinbo" (real name redacted.)
At age 12, Dave's parents divorced and he was given the choice of parents to live with. Taking the lesser of two evils (or the path of least resistance, however one may want to see it,) he chose to live with his mother. Even though this forced him to endure two more years of indoctrination in the Seventh-Day Adventist cult. At the age of 14, he joined a community group of teenagers with the vision of improving the community and he came up with an idea of building a library for the local youth. The idea took off, and shortly after it opened he obtained his first paying job. It was shortly after this, where he was no longer forced to continue attending church (though, a conflict with the Pastor over the legitimacy of the demonic powers of Pokémon may have also had something to do with that decision.)
After graduating high school, in 2005, Dave signed up to join the Navy. In the interim, he left his job at the library and took one as a stage builder for a local theatre. Because his ship date for Basic was delayed, this allowed him to maintain a steady income and gain some experience with living on his own. However this few months was not entirely without incident, as there was an encounter with a drunk which resulted in the loss of one of his front teeth (which he has not replaced to this day, as a reminder of the stupidity of his youth.)
Dave's Navy career was short and relatively uneventful. He went to basic training in Great Lakes, IL, then went to his job training school in Goose Creek, SC. It was there he met his future (ex) wife. After graduation, he was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Carl Vinson (CVN-70), while it was being refueled at Newport News, VA. During this time, he began to suffer from bouts of severe mental illness from a failing marriage, which affected his work performance. The resulting divorce ultimately led to the end of his career in the military, where he received a General (Under Honorable Conditions) discharge.
After returning to the U.P., Dave had a difficult time adjusting to civilian life. Less than a year after his discharge, he attempted to re-enlist into the Coast Guard. However, this resulted in fantastic failure. He would spend the next several years eking out a meager living, going from one job to another (mostly in the Customer Service career path.) He would also get together with someone he knew from high school. A mistake he would live to regret for the next 10 years.
In 2019, he got together with Ginger (aka. AvalonsUnicorn) and has remained with her to this day. It is the healthiest relationship he has ever had, and has done wonders to help keep his mental health from further deteriorating.
Struggles With Mental Health[]
Through most of his life, Dave has been exposed to many mentally and emotionally traumatic situations. He has been diagnosed, and currently struggles with:
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Agoraphobia
- Somniphobia (or Hypnophobia)
- Narcissistic Personality Disorder
- Antisocial Personality Disorder
- Severe Clinical Depression
Many of these disorders and illnesses have been determined to be service-connected, therefore Dave is considered disabled through the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
For many years, however, Dave refused to seek treatment for his mental illnesses. As a matter of pride, believed he was capable of overcoming them through sheer force-of-will. While he did not face any kind of legal trouble, he found himself living in unhealthy conditions. After being escorted from the property of one of his workplaces, and subsequently told by his boss that he was unable to return to work until cleared by a mental health professional, he found himself in a checkmate: lose his job or find help. He chose the latter option. These treatments have gone through multiple evolutions and iterations, and continue through today.
